| BATTLEFIELD LINE RAILWAY | UK | THE
BATTLEFIELD LINE RAILWAY in Leicestershire runs from Shackerstone to
Shenton the site of the 1485 Battle of Bosworth Field. The Victorian
Shackerstone Station contains one of the best small railwayana museums
in the country, packed from floor to ceiling with artefacts. A tea room,
shop and fund store complete the site. Watch out for boats on the Ashby
Canal, which runs by the side of the railway. At Shenton lies Bosworth
Field where the last English King died on a battlefield. Here you can walk the battlefield and learn about the final battle of the War of the Roses, before boarding a return train to Shackerstone. There are family orientated special events held throughout the year - Teddy Bears Picnic, Day Out with Thomas and the Steam & Canal Weekend. So come down to the countryside and visit us at Shackerstone, it's so much more than a train ride |

One of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its objectives of the preservation for posterity of a country branch line, its steam locomotives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices. |

These boards proved to be wildly popular and spawned (in 1989) the TrainNet Forum which, for the next twelve years, was a busy and lively gathering place for railroad and railway fans, modelers and employees. On 1 November, 2001 the forum was integrated into TrainNet.org with message boards & chat rooms, weekly moderated conferences, over 6,500 photos & reference files in downloadable libraries and a list of railway books that are recommended by the Staff & Users |
